The Automobile Association (AA) is an authorized New Zealand Transport Agency agent that processes over-the-counter Road User Charges (RUC) transactions through its nationwide network of AA Centres. Customers can purchase RUC distance units in person for light diesel vehicles, electric vehicles (EVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), and heavy vehicles, and receive a printed windscreen label at the time of purchase. The AA verifies vehicle classes and weight bands during the transaction, and processes the standard government distance rates alongside the required in-person administration fee.
