Vehicle Inspection New Zealand (VINZ) is an authorized New Zealand Transport Agency agent that provides over-the-counter Road User Charges (RUC) purchasing services at its physical testing stations. Customers can purchase RUC distance units in person for light diesel vehicles, electric vehicles (EVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), and heavy commercial vehicles. During the transaction, VINZ verifies the vehicle's class and weight band to ensure accuracy, and customers receive an official printed RUC windscreen label on the spot. Similar to other physical retail agents, purchasing RUC at a VINZ branch applies the standard government distance rates along with the required in-person administration fee.
